Literacy at Elmwood

When it comes to reading and writing at Elmwood, you will see students actively thinking while learning new information in all classes.  Learning comes by being engaged in the reading and writing processes in all classrooms.  We want our students to be confident in grade level material that is informative as well as fictional.  We encourage our students to read from all genres.

We have chosen Common Core Standard One (read closely, infer, use evidence when making claims) to be the number one focus for literacy in the classroom.

Students are using evidence and reading closely to learn material and to gain confidence everyday.   There are multiple opportunities to express thoughts while learning.
Contact me if I can be of any assistance regarding literacy in the English and Reading classroom and beyond into the science, history, and even electives.  Literacy is important and we are doing whatever it takes.
